About Solopreneur.co
Solopreneur.co is an independent publication for people who run a business on their own: practical, sourced guides and free tools.
Solopreneur.co is an independent publication for people who build and run a business on their own: freelancers, consultants, creators, side hustlers and founders of one-person companies.
Our mission
To be the most useful and most trustworthy reference for one-person businesses. That means showing the real numbers (fees, taxes, startup costs, rates) with their sources, instead of hype.
Plenty of good businesses never hire anyone. We write for them.
Why we started
Advice for people starting a business tends to fall into two camps. One is written for venture-backed startups. The other is income-screenshot content that hides the costs. Solo founders need something else: what an LLC actually costs in their state, how self-employment tax is calculated, what to charge, which tools are worth paying for. We built Solopreneur.co to answer those questions plainly, cite where each answer comes from, and update it when the rules change.
What we cover
- Start: what a solopreneur is, choosing a model, and learning from people who've done it.
- Ideas and side hustles: ideas with estimated startup costs and time to first sale.
- Money and taxes: pricing, self-employment tax, quarterly payments, insurance and funding.
- Legal: sole proprietorship vs LLC, and LLC fees state by state.
- Marketing and tools: email, websites, social automation, accounting and CRM, with clear methodology.
